Strategies for Effective and Low Cost Legal Research

This program focuses on research tools and strategies related to New Jersey practice, free and low-cost legal resources, and New Jersey specific secondary sources. Topics include how to locate and navigate New Jersey Rules of Court, practice guides, and secondary sources to find legal information in areas such as landlord tenant, estate planning and administration, and civil and criminal trial preparation. The program will also discuss free and low-cost legal resources and tips for using Fastcase, the legal research service that has partnered with the New Jersey State Bar Association.

• Cost-effective research in practice
• New Jersey practice materials: Rules of Court, Form sets
• Streamline research using secondary sources: Gann Treatises, New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education publications, New Jersey Practice, Guralnick’s New Jersey Family Law Annotated
• Free and low cost resources: Rutgers University resources, Google, Fastcase
