This highly interactive basic civil mediation training provides a firm foundation in the communication, negotiation, and mediation skills necessary to becoming an effective mediator and satisfies the 20 hour program requirement for the N.J. Superior Court mediation roster. Taught by a veteran mediator and trainer, participants will engage in realistic role plays and skill building exercises designed to hone existing skills and cultivate new techniques effective in assisting parties move towards resolution.
Particular emphasis is given to effective case management and mediator standards. This training meets NJ Superior Court training requirements for application to its roster of civil mediators.

• Dissecting conflict
• Communication skill building
• Negotiation basics and role play
• Mediation process overview and role play
• Role play contrasting negotiation and mediation
• Conflict management style analysis
• Mediation principles and practices
• Overview of SC CDR Committee and Advisory Committee on Mediator Ethics
• Integrating mediator standards and ethics
• Overview of requirements and mechanics of Civil Roster Mediation Program
• Mediator ethics overview
• Case management basics and challenges
