Participants will learn how to assist individuals on the pathway to citizenship. This program will focus on the eligibility, law and process for legal permanent residents to apply for citizenship using the U.S. Citizenship Application Form N-400. Developed for non-immigration practitioners, this program is intended to provide the essentials needed to conduct an eligibility review and provide legal advice on completing the Form N-400.

Topics include:
• Naturalization eligibility requirements
• Naturalization process and information required to complete Form N-400
• Attorney ethics and application assistance

After the training, volunteers are needed for the naturalization application assistance event from 12:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The CLE registration fee will be waived (use promo code VOL659) and lunch will be provided for all volunteers. This is a qualifying pro bono service for New Jersey attorneys seeking to claim an exemption from court-mandated Madden pro bono assignments. For additional volunteer information, call 973.353.3276 or email cilpj@law.rutgers.edu.

CLE REGISTRATION FEE WILL BE WAIVED FOR VOLUNTEERS; USE PROMO CODE VOL659 or RULAWSTUDENT for students.

This event is co-sponsored by the Center for Immigration Law, Policy and Justice (cilpj.org) and the Eric R. Neisser Public Interest Program at Rutgers Law School.
