This program provides an introduction to residential landlord-tenant practice in New Jersey from the landlord’s and tenant’s perspectives, as well as a judge. It will focus on the law and procedures followed in New Jersey courts. You will learn practical strategies and techniques to effectively handle residential landlord-tenant cases.
Topics include:
• Key provisions in a residential lease
• Anti-Eviction Act, N.J.S.A. 2A:18-61.1
• Tenant selection
• Procedure for non-payment and other grounds
• Notice requirements
• Common defenses to an eviction action
