This program focuses on key issues of professionalism, ethics and law office management that are essential for all new attorneys and, indeed, all attorneys admitted to practice law. Topics include:
• ethical issues and best practice issues in forming the attorney-client relationship;
• evaluating and addressing conflicts;
• handling communications with clients, opposing counsel, the courts and third parties;
• handling client funds;
• handling client files and confidential information;
• the disciplinary process and sanctions; and available resources for attorneys.
Though the program follows the curriculum set forth by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for the PA Bridge the Gap requirement, it also covers New Jersey practice and divergences between the New Jersey and Pennsylvania rules. This program utilizes a blended learning approach involving discussion of practical ethical hypotheticals and an instructional DVD.
This program satisfies the Pennsylvania Bridge the Gap requirement, counts towards New Jersey’s Newly Admitted Attorney Requirement for Law Office Management and the ethics/professionalism requirements for all attorneys.
