Effective Immigration Practice for Solo and Small Firms: What Every Lawyer Should Know

This program focuses on immigration law for solo, small firm and criminal practitioners looking for a foundation for establishing an Immigration Practice component to their practice. It is also valuable for any attorney seeking an overview of the practice area. Lawyers can readily incorporate aspects of immigration practice into solo and small firms. This course is specifically designed to offer a condensed, focused and practical survey of immigration practice essentials. Topics covered include the difference between inadmissibility and removability, removal defense and affirmative petitions, the immigration courts and appellate process, and where to go to get answers fast.
FACULTY:
Marianna Visnadul, Esq. currently practices immigration law with Wright Johnson LLC, a Regional Center consulting firm who serves, among others, businesses seeking to attain foreign investment and individuals seeking to obtain EB-5 immigrant visas. Most recently, she specialized in family based immigration petitions and removal defense in Immigration Court as an associate with Bagia & Associates, P.C.

Peter J. Thompson, Esq., the current Director of Experiential Learning at Villanova Law, recently left a professorship position at the Charlotte School of Law, Charlotte, NC, where he founded and taught an Immigration Law Clinic. He joined Charlotte Law from the Defender Association of Philadelphia, where he served as trial and appellate counsel for over a decade and as Director of the Defender Immigration Project. In this role he provided trainings for members of the bar and bench regarding the immigration consequences of criminal convictions.
