Demystifying Child Support Obligations in New Jersey: From Initial Entry Through Enforcement

This program on New Jersey child support law is presented by a seasoned family law attorney and a Superior Court Family Part Judge. These experienced professionals shall provide you with knowledge and skills needed to address child support issues in your family law cases. Topics to be discussed in this overview include:
• When a child support award is appropriate
• Determining the proper amount of child support to be awarded
• Use of the New Jersey Child Support Guidelines and assumptions on which the Guidelines awards are based
• Expenses included in the Guidelines awards
• Reasons for deviation from the use of the Guidelines
• Common issues encountered in the use of the Guidelines, including; 1) college age children; 2) incomes over the guidelines maximum; 3) extraordinary expenses; 4) other dependent children; 5) receipt of government benefits; 6) “split” parenting; 7) cash and imputed income; and 8) overriding tax calculations
• Methods of payment of child support awards
• Modification of child support awards
• Enforcement of child support obligations
This program can be used toward the New Jersey newly admitted attorney requirement.
