Ethics and Mediation: Mediator Case Studies and Challenges

This course will address the potential ethical challenges facing mediators (focusing on civil) from accepting a case to capturing the agreement. Each mediator standard will be featured and dissected in a case study reflective of actual scenarios encountered by mediators. Topics include:
- Mediator ethics: self-determination, impartiality, conflict of interest, confidentiality
- Group exercises /series of conflict situations
- Ethics skill building exercises related to confidentiality
- Self-determination and active facilitation in harmony
- Case management function of mediator in addressing ethics concerns
- Foreclosure mediation illustrative of this dilemma/mediation role play
NJ CLE Information: This program has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 4.8 hours of total CLE ethics credit.
