This course offers a condensed, simple, focused and practical survey of immigration practice basics. After a discussion of ethical considerations and fundamentals, the dynamic faculty will provide you with what you need to know to begin practicing with confidence in this area. Subjects covered include the difference between inadmissibility and removability, removal defense, and affirmative petitions, the immigration courts and appellate process, and where to go to get answers fast. This course is designed for attorneys new to this area, and for those looking for a brush up.
FACULTY:
Peter J. Thompson, Esq., represents individuals, families and businesses facing challenging issues in U.S. Immigration Law, including employment-based visa applications, investment visas, adjustments of status, consulate processing, and contested citizenship matters. In addition to affirmative petitions, Peter’s firm represents people in contested removal hearings, and regularly consults with criminal defense practitioners handling non-citizen client matters. Peter also serves as a CJA Panel trial attorney for the EDPA District Court, teaches for NITA, is a published author in the complex field of “crimmigration”, and has served as a faculty member in several law schools.
