This program is co-sponsored by Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (vljnj.org) and the Education Law Center (edlawcenter.org). It is designed to serve as a primer for attorneys interested in representing students in pro bono special education matters in New Jersey. It is geared towards attorneys who have little to no experience in this area of law.
Topics include:
• The Right to a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)
• Educational Evaluations
• Overview of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Due Process Complaints and Hearings
• Remedies
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Coffee, water and breakfast provided. 1-hour break for lunch on your own to try one of the many great places within walking distance.
