The Essentials of Representing Children in Special Education Matters

This program is co-sponsored by Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (VLJ) and the Education Law Center (ELC) and is designed to serve as a primer for attorneys interested in representing students in pro bono special education matters in New Jersey. It is geared towards attorneys who have little to no experience in this area of law.
Topics include:
• The Right to a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)
• Educational Evaluations
• Overview of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Challenging District Action
• Remedies
