Setting the Record Straight: Representing Veterans in Discharge Upgrade Applications
Thursday, June 18, 2015 | 9:30 AM EDT - 12:30 PM EDT
Registration for this program is now closed. Please see the full listing for upcoming IPE programs. |
Rutgers Institute for Professional Education is pleased to partner with Volunteer Lawyers for Justice to present this program, which will train attorneys to represent veterans seeking to file discharge upgrade applications. A veteran’s discharge status is key to the benefits they are entitled to and many service members were discharged with less than honorable status due to undiagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder and/or traumatic brain injury. The program will provide an overview of the relevant laws and procedures, as well as information about New Jersey’s veteran community.
Topics will include:
• Military discharge overview
• The Discharge Review Board and the Board for Correction of Military Records
• Requesting and reviewing military records
• Relevant forms and other materials
Fee waived for attorneys who agree to take one full representation case over the next year. IF YOU INTEND TO VOLUNTEER, please indicate so by applying promo code PROBONO (not PROBONO266) and the fee waiver will be confirmed when you sign in.
Immediately following the CLE there will be a networking lunch for all attendees.
